Background

Fil-Wuha Primary School, established in 2003, is located in the town of Fil Wuha. With nine classrooms, the school serves approximately 680 students. Due to the building's dilapidated condition, parents and teachers express serious concerns about its structural integrity, fearing that it could collapse during severe weather.

On a rainy or windy day, water and heavy winds can enter the classes and disrupt learning. Additionally there was no structural integrity as the building was already leaning.

Our Method

We prioritize community engagement in our school-building projects, visiting a minimum of three to four towns and schools annually. Through meetings with school administrators and community members, we carefully select project sites based on need, accessibility, and the community's willingness to participate. By fostering local involvement, we aim to empower communities and ensure the sustainability of our projects

Outcome

The newly constructed building at Fil-Wuha Primary School features four classrooms, providing a much-needed upgrade for both educators and students.

The classrooms offer a safe and more motivating learning environment for the students.  The school employs 5 teachers and serves 608 students ranging from 1st to 5th grade. With a quality learning environment parents from Fil Wiha are encouraged to allow their children to pursue education and children are incentivised to continue and finish their primary education.
