Background
Chechela Primary School, established in 1989 in an underfunded primary school that serves over 500 kids in its current stance.
Our Method
We prioritize community engagement in our school-building projects, visiting a minimum of three to four towns and schools annually. Through meetings with school administrators and community members, we carefully select project sites based on need, accessibility, and the community's willingness to participate. By fostering local involvement, we aim to empower communities and ensure the sustainability of our projects
Outcome
The newly constructed building at Chechela Primary School features four classrooms, a valuable addition to the school’s capacity. This project was a collaborative effort with in Axumite Abraha, with our organization contributing 50% of the construction costs. Beyond addressing the classroom shortage, this project also aimed to support the local economy by employing community members exclusively. By doing so, we not only improved educational opportunities for the children, but also strengthened the community’s economic well being.
